10 reasons for...
- The main advantage of biodiesel is it's restorability. It means that input material, biodiesel is made of, completely recovers in nature, as opposed to almost nonrestorable petroleum reserves.
- Vegetable matter. Biodiesel is converted from vegetable oils, made of plants that perfectly enrich soil structure in crop rotation system. Different vegetable oils are supposed to be used as inputs for biodiesel production: sunflower, rapeseed, soyabean, peanut, palm,cotton-seed, linseed, coconut, corn, mustard-seed, castor, hempseed, sesame oils, waste oils (used as edible, for example) and tallow.
- Ecology. While burning biodiesel produces far less noxious gases. As compared with mineral analog it almost doesn't contain sulfur (<0.001%, as mineral fuel <0.2%).
- Biological safety. In case of getting in water mineral oil can result in a death of flora and fauna. Biodiesel is friendly for plants and animals. Moreover it almost completely dissolves: microorganisms in soil or water refine 99% of biodiesel during a month. That makes possible to minimize river and lake pollution if alternate fuel is used.
- Less СО2 emission. While burning biodiesel produces the same gas volume as raw materials (plants)used during lifetime.
- Biodiesel, although it contains little sulfur, has an incredible greasy property. As well mineral fuel loses this property if sulfur compound is eliminated. Mainly because of the chemical structure and oxygen content.
- High burning point. One more technical point that could be of interest for companies storing and transporting fuels and lubricants. The magnitude of burning point for biodiesel is more than 150°C, that makes it comparatively safe.
